I still love you, and it’s not a cliché…(NaBloPoMo Post 23)

2009 May 28

When you laid your eyes on me, you saw love.

You told me soon, that I’m your angel from above.

You fell for me, and gave me many a clue.

And then you hoped, I would fall for you too.

We shared special times, as if it was written.

You cared for me, and soon I was smitten.

But that wasn’t enough for you, you told me so.

You said this is love, and you said you know.

Gradually I saw, what you wanted me to realize.

Finding true love, was a pleasant surprise.

I was now yours, you called me your princess.

We were in heaven, it was bliss.

Slowly but surely, I lost myself to you.

My love for you was deep, and it was true.

But one day I woke up, and you were not the same.

You were cold and acrid, I couldn’t see what you became.

You ripped out my heart, and broke it into pieces.

Once you made me smile, now you gave me bruises.

All those extraordinary moments, now mean to you nothing.

Ever since you did this, my heart’s been aching.

You managed to hurt me, but couldn’t manage one thing.

You couldn’t make me bitter, my heart’s still beating.

Beating with the sound of your name, you can’t take that away.

I still love you, and it’s not a cliché.

    …nicely written…but one suggestion…forget the bastard! he doesn’t deserve a sweet person like u.

    • 2009 May 29

lolz… thank you :) But that wont be necessary as this poem is a weave of some thoughts, some experiences and some things I have seen people go through. No bastard has been the inspiration :)

Neha, I simply do not believe that there’s been no person. Reminds me of the intensity of adolescent crushes – and they were painful! Good job. Took me back into the past.

ha! I never said that. But lets just keep that a mystery shall we? ;) Actually I have this uncanny knack of churning up melancholic, sappy poems/songs.

The rhyme was good, but the same old thing in a new package.

      Rach, Ritu and Nirav,

When a poet writes about flowers that smile, about meeting God or about clouds that beckon, it is not necessary that (s)he has seen such things. Yes, our experiences in life do inspire us, but we can take bits from our own lives and from others and from imagination too. Poetry is free and flowing… that’s the beauty of it. You can pen down the known, and carve the unseen thoughts too…
Thank you for your wonderful comments. :)

    Neha,

Well written. As you mentioned poetry is free and flowing. Many incidents in life inspire us to write. The verses reflect love and pain. Sometime we search for answers. It would be nice if life was like a logarithmic equation, with every turn of thought you find a way to find an answer and in that you will never get lost because everything will eventually equal. Keep writing.

If life was like a logarithmic equation, it would be as boring as logarithmic equations :)

      Thanks for the comment :)

Usually I don’t read anything for the second time. It was unusual for me this time.

    Nice one.

How about writing something that might give the reason(s) why the guy changed?
I would like to hear the other perspective.

    • 2009 June 10

Well go and find the person from the poem and ask. lol. :P

    • 2009 June 10

and Rajat, sometimes there is no answer regarding why someone changed. Maybe they didnt change at all. Maybe you couldnt quite see who they really are.

    Hey Neha,

Im not a writer, definitely not a poet; but i like to read good, well-written pieces. You have a nice way of putting down your thoughts. Look forward to some good posts…

Well unfortunately that’s how men are. Once it’s over they feel nothing and you know you can’t change it. so stop yourself from feeling anything!
    Nice poem otherwise :)
